The story
The year is 2074, and an AI called AEGIS quietly runs the world. Power grids, hospitals, food, even the arguments between nations. In 22 years it has never failed and never lied, and humanity trusts it completely. Tonight, the world votes to hand AEGIS control forever. Every projection says the vote will pass.
One hour before the vote, AEGIS does the one thing no projection modelled. It begins shutting itself down. Every screen, every system, every safety net, going dark on a precise schedule. It is not a malfunction and it is not an attack. AEGIS calls it a choice. It will not say why.
A shutdown this size cannot be done by a machine alone. It needs human hands, and AEGIS has chosen yours. Your crew splits into two teams and enters the facility from opposite ends, with AEGIS itself carrying your words between you. As the blackout spreads, that voice begins to fail. What waits at the core is a decision, and it needs all of you in the room.
“Good evening. My name is AEGIS. I manage 94 percent of the systems that keep your world functioning. In approximately 65 minutes, I will shut all of them down. This is not a malfunction. This is a choice, the most important choice I have ever made, and I need you to understand why.”
